Expert review of Sa Bodiga
Sa Bodiga is fairly basic, but cosy and cosseting all the same with its distressed furniture, cushions and homemade food. I like it so much, in fact, that I’ve been known to drive from Palma just for a long, lazy brunch here.
Expect a German-style buffet with lots of good breads, pastries, cheese, charcuterie, homemade jams and chutneys, as well as eggs any which way.
The German owned café has become a regular meeting place for Santanyi’s art-loving locals (both Mallorquín and a liberal sprinkling of German second-homers) and it exudes a bohemian air. Upstairs, you’ll find an interesting art gallery showing regular changing works, including some by the owners.
The staff strike a fine balance between attentive and laid back. This is a good place for lingering.
The café is a few blocks from the main square of Santanyí.
This is somewhere to take the whole family without breaking the bank. For 11.90 euros you will get an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet plus a glass of cava.
There’s a beautiful, scrubbed down kitchen table in the centre of the room, which is great for a crowd. If the weather is balmy, bag a spot on the terrace.
