Expert review of Terrazza
This is a personal favourite: sit high up on the terrace of Terrazza (yes, hence the name) and you can see what Saint Julian’s used to be – a quiet Mediterranean fishing village. This is the place to find peace amidst the buzz of Malta’s main tourist centre, to eat excellent local food and watch the sun set over the sea.
There is a substantial selection of Mediterranean dishes with an emphasis on the local, including lots of pastas (gluten-free varieties available), fresh fish (fried or in a salt crust) and Maltese specialities. There is also a Mini Man Menu for kids.
It's relaxed and informal. Come as you are, be as you please, take us as you find us. The small interior is rustic and cosy but come for the terrace - wonderfully peaceful in the evening with fabulous views over the bay.
The service is personal, friendly and slow (everything is cooked to order and there aren’t many staff). Relax and enjoy the view.
Walk past the glitzy restaurants strung along the side of Spinola Bay and past a few traditional fishing boats to find this restaurant at the end of the line with only the sea beyond.
Starters are 6-9 euros, mains 14-19 euros (with steaks more). Children’s dishes are around 4-5 euros.
The edge of the terrace offers the best views.
