Expert review of La Tasquita de Min
The best fish restaurant in Puerto.
Always packed with locals (often including me), this no frills restaurant is my first choice and recommendation for fish lovers. Don't expect fancy presentation or trendy ingredients, this is simply fish, cooked to perfection.
Food and drink:
It's traditional Canarian cuisine favouring fish and seafood with a small menu of interchangeable courses. Main courses usually only come with potatoes. A small but good wine list includes some nice local whites.
Recommended dishes:
Lapas en ojo y cilantro (limpets in garlic and coriander) when in season are delicious; vieja (parrot fish) which is sometimes fish of the day, is a local speciality and is outstanding.
Ambience:
It's friendly, noisy and busy. A favourite with Canarian families. Sunday lunchtimes are one of their busiest times with extended families taking four hours over lunch.
Service:
The eponymous Min and his family are relaxed and efficient.
Location:
It's harbourside in a small plaza at the start of the restaurant district.
Price advice:
Starters average at 6 euros; main courses average 10 euros; sweets average 3 euros. Tapas average at 4 euros.
Tables to book:
On hot nights and sunny Sunday afternoons try for a table on the outside terrace for some good people watching.
