Traditional cuisine in grandma's house.
A total recluse from the tourist trail, Casa Pache is tucked away down the 'street of truth' and is like stepping into your Canarian gran's house. It's a maze of little rooms, each one adorned with antiquities, photographs and posters of a bygone era and filled with the aroma of good home cooking.
Food and drink:
This is very traditional Canarian cuisine and includes the likes of gofio - toasted and ground cereals used for thickening soups and stews - which dates back 500 years on the island.
Ambience:
It's informal and friendly, with mainly locals and the few visitors who have found it and now consider it their favourite.
Service:
The staff are welcoming and friendly.
Location:
It's on a quiet, pretty little paseo off one of the main thoroughfares.
Price advice:
Tapas are 3-4 euros per person, starters average at 6 euros, main courses are 7-12 euros and desserts are 3.50 euros.
