Best for Families - Expert review of Lo Guarracino
It's a little bit of a schlep to get to but it's a lovely walk and worth it for the views alone. The name comes from an old Neapolitan tarantella song about a love triangle between a guarracino (a fish that, though not particularly fleshy, was reputed to be magic), a pilchard and a tuna.
Pizzas. And plenty of them. But don't ignore the fish: taglioni agli scampi, spaghetti alla marinara and any number of fishes cooked on the grill. The taglioni al limone is delicious.
Inside the decor is café style - small tables, check tablecloths - and there's a little terrace too with those wonderful views over the tower of Clavel and the Li Galli.
It's relaxed and friendly.
Walk along the beach, past the Savino (Covo dei Saraceni) and carry on along the Via Positanesi dei America (given the name as a 'thank you' to the Positanesi who emigrated to the US and then helped the country recover after the Second World War).
It's not cheap, but if money is tight you can order a pizza for half the price to take away and eat down on the beach.
