Expert review of La Zagara
La Zagara has been doing its thing since the 1950s and, while it could be said to be overstretching itself - it's definitely a 'plastic-covered menu' place with more choices than you can dream of - it's a good 'I can't walk another step' option. If you're looking for something to take with you, there's a selection of pastries and cakes at the front.
There is everything from ice cream and cakes to sandwiches, pasta and pizzas, as well as coffees and soft drinks. La Zagara is also open late and, during the evening, turns into more of a bar. Food is still served but cocktails start to make an appearance.
La Zagara has a pretty little garden out the back that makes a perfectly pleasant place to have a coffee and a cake or an overblown ice cream.
Its position on the main drag in Positano means that it gets busy with tourists and tests the patience of the waiting staff. Don't expect cheery banter.
It's about halfway down the walk from the top of Positano to the beach, so a perfect stopping off point.
Being in the centre of things, La Zagara is in prime fleecing position. That said, prices are not outrageous for this part of town.
