Expert review of Bon Lloc
Good veggie restaurants are still few and far between in Spain, but this is one exception, not least because its been going since 1978. Bright and airy, it oozes healthy wholesomeness, which sometimes is just what you need after a weekend on the razzle.
Dishes centre around what’s in season, what’s local and what you could get in the market that day. Recent autumnal highlights included a wonderfully rich and earthy cream of celery soup, savoury pumpkin quiche and a chocolate tart with figs. You see, good doesn’t necessarily mean boring.
I like the air of belonging here, the clatter and clutter of all the families that come in, and the sense that everyone is somehow a regular.
Brisk and efficient, but usually done with a smile.
In the centre of town, about two minutes from the Passeig del Born.
Four courses for €13.50 - you can’t say fairer than that.
If you can snag one by the window it’s a good place to sit and watch the world go by.
