Expert review of Shake Shack

Enjoy American classics while sitting in a pretty park.

The Shake Shack has become a city phenomenon, a series of “roadside burger joints” with multiple outposts around the metropolis like Madison Park, the Upper West Side and Citi Field, the new Mets baseball field. But this one in Madison Park is my favorite, mostly because the park is so pretty and easily accessible from other New York neighborhoods.

Food and drink:

Expect tender juicy burgers, Chicago-style hot dogs, and thick milkshakes.

Ambience:

You are sitting in one of Manhattan’s prettiest parks so it’s great when the weather is lovely and if you have kids in tow.

Service:

Quick and efficent.

Location:

Smack bang in Madison Park.

Price advice:

US$7.95 for a burger seems respectable for one that’s much better than a fast food equivalent.

Tables to book:

This place doesn't take reservations but there is always a line especially on sunny weekends, so plan to wait or go at off-peak.

Other useful branches:

There are other well placed branches of Shake Shack in the Theater District, the Upper West Side and Citi Field - see the website for details.
