Expert review of Pearl Oyster Bar
Tucked away on an quiet street in the West Village, Pearl Oyster is a seafood lovers’ paradise with excellent American classics like huge buckets of steamers, fried oysters and delicious Maine lobsters. But for me, and other loyal New York followers, it’s the lobster roll with shoestring fries that’s the main attraction.
Don’t miss the lobster roll, a perfect combo of tender lobster meat tossed in homemade mayonnaise on a fresh bun, a dish that has inspired legions of fans, and imitators. The wine list has great crisp whites to accompany even the most delicate fish.
The atmospheric space has a long counter, so you can eat at the bar, and cute small tables in the back room. I love how cozy and modern it feels at the same time.
Friendly servers but I like to sit at the bar area so I can chat and order from the main bartender.
Cornelia Street is a charming street in a charming neighborhood.
Main courses from US$10 and a three-course meal without wine is about US$32 per person.
No reservations so go on the early side or early in the week.
