Expert review of Ma Peche

An innovative Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Midtown.

Ma Peche is the latest restaurant from one of my favorite Asian chefs, David Chang, offering his usual creative flair.

Food and drink:

A French-Vietnamese menu that’s quite inventive. Start with the great raw bar and then move onto dishes like rice noodles, the sensational pork chop and beef seven ways.

Ambience:

This is as funky as Midtown can get, with a huge space and a great soundtrack. Think downtown hipsters going uptown.

Service:

Low-key and lovely. Ask them for their recommendations - they do know best.

Location:

Inside the funky Chambers.

Price advice:

Appetizers and small dishes run from US$12-$18 and main courses are between US$18-$29. More reasonable is the lunch prix fixe for US$25.

Tables to book:

Since the place offers no reservations anyway, I like to eat at the long communal table.
