Expert review of Gramercy Tavern
Once the stomping ground of top chef Tom Colicchio, this pretty restaurant is now under the domain of Michael Anthony, a great cook who embodies a seasonal, local approach that’s still gourmet.
Delicious but subtly flavored some of the standouts here include lightly smoked lobster, wonderful soups and a great rack of lamb.
A grown up atmosphere, which isn't too formal.
The waiters really know their stuff.
Near Gramercy Park on a quiet side street.
Eating a la carte can prove expensive but there are some prix fixes and tasting menus that are good value like the five-course lunch for US$55 and nine-course seasonal tasting menu for US$112.
There is a formal dining room but for lunch I like to sit in the more casual front bar area.
