Expert review of Fish

Market fresh seafood? Say yes to Fish.

Budget-conscious seafood lovers have found their mecca. Fish serves farm-fresh seafood at affordable prices. The restaurant is welcoming and offers $8 oyster and wine specials that can't be beat.

Food and drink:

Because the restaurant doubles as a fish market, Fish is able to serve fresh seafood and fish at deep discounts. Everything tastes freshly caught and the selection is varied.

Recommended dishes:

The oyster and wine special is the first place to start. Long before the dollar-oyster craze began, Fish was offering a half-dozen oysters and a glass of wine for $8. That hasn't changed. Stay for the grilled Bay of Fundy salmon or the paella. Everything is seasoned well and the portions are large.

Ambience:

It's decidedly casual. Dark walls and wooden tables and chairs. The spot is filled with locals.

Service:

Service is a bit spotty at times, especially if it's busy.

Location:

On a busy stretch of Bleeker Street, which is always teeming with tourists. Thankfully, it's at the edge of that section.

Price advice:

It's about $50 for two, without wine or beer. The lunch and dinner menus are the same.
