Expert review of Dirty Pierre's
Most Manhattanites don't like to venture out of their beloved borough and miss out on great eateries. Dirty Pierre's is worth the trip to Forest Hills in Queens. Why? Because it's a great small pub on the outskirts of one of the prettiest neighborhoods in the entire city. Come for a burger and beer and stay for a walk around lovely Forest Hills Gardens, a tudor village seemingly dropped from the sky.
The food is your regular pub fare. Burgers, fries, soup and mussels. Everything is seasoned well and dripping with flavor.
Opt for the sliders; you'll get the same amount of food for a lower price. Dirty Pierre's is often voted the top burger joint in Queens. It's hard to dispute that when the fat literally drips off the bread. The mussels are a local favorite, too.
This is a divey pub yet surprisingly clean and comfortable. The front bar area is small and teeming with people and there are only about 10 seats in the back dining room. The place is filled with locals who prefer its charms to more bustling restaurants in the area.
Service is fast and efficient and always friendly. I've never had to wait for food or drink.
On a small side street hidden away from the main thoroughfare in Forest Hills. It's past the LIRR stop in Forest Hills, blink and you might pass it.
Everything is inexpensive. Dinner for two runs to about $30. The menu is the same for lunch and dinner.
