Expert review of The Breslin

Housed in the buzzy Ace Hotel, this super trendy restaurant has the food to match.

The latest from up-and-coming chef April Bloomfield, The Breslin won a Michelin star in 2010. This see-and-be-seen spot does a comforting, meat-centric gastro-pub menu with aplomb.

Food and drink:

Rich and satisfying dishes make appearances from breakfast to dinner - a full English Breakfast in the morning, chargrilled lamb burger for lunch and pig’s foot with baby carrots are among the standouts.

Ambience:

The packed, loud bar leads into an old school back room with banquettes and kitschy taxidermy.

Service:

Pleasant hipster servers sometimes seem a bit overwhelmed by the crowd but great front of house mangers keep it under control.

Location:

In the burgeoning media hub, this block of 29th Street feels remarkably serene.

Price advice:

It may be a gastro pub but with a burger that still costs 17 bucks you might want to try to get there on an expense account.

Tables to book:

As this place does not take reservations take what they give you.
