Expert review of Bar Boulud
I find it hard to eat well in this neck of the woods but really like to have a glass of wine and a quick bite here before heading to a performance at Lincoln Center.
Daniel Boulud is a New York legend and this is his most informal venture where he concentrates on excellent charcuterie and classics like steak frites and coq au vin. The wine list is encyclopedic and there are excellent choices by the glass.
A long thin space that’s always bustling after work, it feels a bit more downtown cool than most of the bland restaurants nearby.
Courteous but refrained.
This stretch of bustling Broadway is not particularly atmospheric but it’s an easy walk to Columbus Center, Central Park and Lincoln Center right across the street.
A good glass of wine will cost about US$10 and the three-course pre theater menu is US$42.
I sit at the communal charcuterie bar when flying solo or otherwise tuck into one of the side banquettes towards the front of the restaurant.
