This is an intriguing restaurant with enduring appeal, located under the Balcón de Europa.
A friend in Nerja told me I must try this quirky little restaurant under the iconic Balcón…and what a find it turned out to be! I’ve never had anything close to a bad meal here. Even if you don’t fancy eating, make sure you at least have a drink in the bar to experience the panoramic, uninterrupted views across the sea. Despite a new young team recently taking over Rey Alfonso’s brilliant reputation looks secure.
Food and drink:
A wonderful, ambitious mix of contemporary and traditional international dishes, with a definite Spanish flair, await you. From the sole to the paella, everything is presented in a masterly fashion.
Ambience:
Thanks to the large, curved windows and the open-plan layout you’ll not miss the sweeping views of the Mediterranean. Right now, this is definitely the place to be…so pull up one of the big oak chairs and breathe in that vista.
Service:
The new owners have spent ages sourcing and training their staff. And it shows. The service is faultless.

Go down the small set of steps at the end of the Balcón de Europa to get to the restaurant.
Price advice:
Dinner is going to cost you around 30 euros per person. The stunning views are thrown in ‘on the house’ - as are the complimentary post-dinner drinks.
