Expert review of Retaurante Le Dauphin
Whether you consider cooking an art form or not, there’s no escaping it at Le Dauphin; the artistic way the building was constructed using huge stones, and wood from a monastery in Toledo; the sculptures that form a permanent display, the work of owner, artist and chef Bert Wets; the artistry inherent in the presentation of his creations, or simply the gastronomic art for which the restaurant has become so well-known. And as if man-made art wasn’t enough, the art of nature, with the beautiful views over the bay to the great rock of the Peñon de Ifach at Calpe.
The menu is superbly inventive; marinated red tuna with tapenade sauce and a jelly of fresh herbs and sesame; scallops ‘Aix en Provence’, with dried tomatoes, oregano, basil and lavender; or you might drool over crusty filo pastry tacos filled with entrecote steak with herb and nut butter.
Elegant and artistic.
Understated but attentive.

There are three fixed menus available, but not of them cheap.
