Expert review of Santini
Everyone in Lisbon knows that the best ice cream this side of Sicily is found in the Santini ice cream parlours. A favourite of royalty (the Spanish king has it delivered to Madrid) the Santini family have been making ice cream for generations, starting in the royal courts of Vienna over 100 years ago.
This really is the best ice-cream I've ever had. It's made fresh everyday from real fruit, without any flavourings.
All the flavours are delicious but you can't go wrong with chocolate.
The place is bustling on hot days and full of children, as all ice-cream parlours should be.
The service is family-run and friendly.
In the thick of Lisbon's city-centre Chiado district.
Depending on how many scoops you want, most ice creams are about 3 euros.
The original Santini is in Cascais on Av. Valbom. A must visit when going to the beach.
