Best for Romance - Expert review of Restaurante Tagide
I come here, in part, to eat the fine high-end Portuguese food but mainly for the warm welcome and to eat at the best table in the city – by the French windows, overlooking the period roof-tops and the sparkling River Tejo below.
Expect traditional Portuguese and Mediterranean food with a fine-dining twist.
I particularly like the scallop black pork with clams, coriander, rice and vegetables. The degustation menu changes daily and is always excellent. I personally like Friday's fish menu containing the delicately steamed dover sole with vegetables and ginger.
This place is small, cosy and elegant without being too stuffy or pompous.
Absolutely impeccable. The staff always treat me like a long-lost friend.
This little place is hidden right in the centre of town. In one of Chiado's grand period buildings.
The three-course lunchtime set-menu is great value at 23 euros, or mains will set you back about 15 euros.
Try and get a table near the French windows for romantic views across the city-centre roof-tops and the river.
