Best for Value for money - Expert review of A Picanha
I like to skip lunch in preparation for dinner at this gut-busting all-you-can-eat meat-fest. There’s no menu and the only question you’ll be asked by the waiter is how you like your picanha (Brazilian barbecued rump steak, cooked whole and sliced into thin strips) cooked – I go for mal passado or rare.
There’s steak or steak. Oh, and sides of salad, beans and toasted manioc flour washed down with zingy caipirinhas.
It’s a candle-lit joint with a quiet air, save for the calm hum and slurp of hungry diners gobbling through slices of steak.
Efficient and friendly.
In the quiet streets of Lapa, it’s easily noticeable.
With drinks etc, my tab usually comes to about 25 euros-a-head, which is pretty good for the half cow I usually eat.
