Expert review of Bocca

A bright, buzzy and hip restaurant serving tasty and contemporary southern European food.

This chic, minimalist joint serves light, fresh and delicious food to Lisbon's in-the-know diners.

Food and drink:

You’ve got two options here. The more formal restaurant upstairs, which serves dishes such as tempura of triggerfish fillets with creamy rice and cockles, and a fresh risotto layered with crayfish ceviche, or the informal tapas-style bar down stairs, where sushi and snack-sized dishes such as tuna maki, and rocket and mizuna bisque are served.

Ambience:

Business-lunch by day. Chatty young couples and the odd party table by night.

Service:

I always find the staff polite and attentive.

Location:

Just off the Avenida, it’s close to lots the city’s hotels and office buildings.

Price advice:

It’s not cheap, mains are between 20–30 euros.

Tables to book:

For a more informal and fun night I like to grab a table at the downstairs bar.
