Expert review of Wichcraft
It's lovely to see a well known chef going into the budget market. Wichcraft is the brainchild of Tom Colicchio, who also runs Craftsteak at MGM Grand, and while standards are high, prices are incomparable. On the menu here are gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads and drinks, and while you're free to take your food away, it's a pleasant place to sit down and eat, too.
Upmarket sandwiches in combinations you won't have thought of before, such as meatloaf with cheddar and bacon, roast pork with red cabbage, jalapeno and mustard, and turkey, avocado, bacon and balsamic onions. There's also a choice of soups and salads, and it's even licensed to serve beer.
It's a quick in and out kind of place, but it doesn't feel like that. The decor is high class, and the food elevates it to something approaching a restaurant.
Quick and helpful.
In MGM Grand, at the southern end of the Strip proper.
Expect to pay around US$10 per head.
