Expert review of Max Brenner
Max Brenner’s Manhattan chocolate restaurant is so popular with New Yorkers that this summer he opened a branch in Vegas. The flagship branch – it’s two storeys high and centrally located in the Forum Shops in Caesars – is the perfect place to wind down or perk up with some sugar. It’s really friendly, there’s a great mix of people, and I love it.
There’s a normal food menu (burgers, sandwiches and the like) but when I come here it’s all about the sweet stuff. There’s a vast menu of all things chocolatey – from milkshakes to various types of hot chocolate on the drinks side, and plenty of desserts, ice-cream and chocolate fondues to eat. With most dishes you get to choose whether you want dark, milk or white chocolate too, so the possibilities really are endless. The cocktails are also great.
I love the Fantastic Popsicle Chocolate Fondue – an ice cream lolly with chocolate sprinkles and nuts and a pot of melted chocolate. You dip the ice cream into the chocolate, roll it in the toppings, bite off the crust and repeat until your body gets a glucose overload.
Very relaxed but friendly. There are surprisingly few families here – it’s mainly couples and groups of friends. There are quite a few young people, but there’s a good mix.
Really friendly and food comes out quickly.
In the Forum Shops at Caesars, bang in the middle of the Strip.
Prices vary hugely depending on the dish but allow around US$7 upwards for a dessert and US$5 for drinks. Cocktails cost US$14.
