Expert review of Craftsteak

With a celeb chef at the helm, this modern steakhouse is a vibrant part of MGM Grand.

You can't escape steakhouses in Vegas, but I never get bored of them. Craftsteak has a traditional menu - you won't find any crazy fare here - but it's presented beautifully, the atmosphere is trendy and the food is delicious. I don't spend a lot of time in MGM Grand but this is somewhere that I'll definitely make the hike for.

Food and drink:

Top notch steak and traditional dishes from roast chicken and short ribs to salmon and Maine lobster. Despite the name, don't dismiss the seafood options, which are really rather wonderful.

Recommended dishes:

I once had a starter of a raw scallop with a clam foam on top, which was perfection.

Ambience:

Think formal but trendy. Tom Colicchio (the head chef here) is well known in the States, so there are plenty of people coming here in search of a “scene”.

Service:

Thorough and friendly.

Location:

In MGM Grand, so at the southern end of the Strip proper.

Price advice:

A three course meal will set you back at least US$85 per person.
