Expert review of Cezayir
Stylish and comfortable without being obnoxiously posh, Cezayir offers a good fusion menu in attractive surroundings, with both bar/lounge areas and a more formal restaurant inside a well-renovated early-20th century building and a large garden out back.
Mediterranean-influenced international fare with a focus on meats and fish, and a large selection of starters. Cezayir serves alcohol.
I like the pork tenderloin with grilled apple, pear, and chard and the tagliatelle with mild mushrooms and greens, though portions have become slightly smaller recently. Salads are still big and hearty.
The relaxed, but sophisticated, atmosphere suits the generally well-heeled crowd. With all the different areas available to diners and drinkers, it’s good for groups too.
Service could be more attentive.
On a side street off central İstiklal Caddesi and right next to Cezayir Sokak (“French Street”), a busy, if touristy, little row of bars and restaurants.
Main dishes range from 17-36.5 lira.
