Expert review of ZenSea
Modern Mediterranean restaurant right on the beach in one of Ibiza's best kept secret coves.
The first time I went to ZenSea I was amazed at how sophisticated and modern it was, in an area where, for years, only rustic old restaurants had existed. There is truly something for everyone on the menu, from gourmets to toddlers and the fussiest eaters (like myself) and the views are quite simply breathtaking. In the winter, or on windy days, you might even spot surfers in the water.
Food and drink:
A modern take on Mediterranean traditions, with tasty tapas bites, hearty rice dishes and fresh seafood sitting alongside burgers, pastas and big salads. There’s also a simple breakfast menu and fresh pastries in the mornings.
Recommended dishes:
You can’t go past the family recipe paella, though I must admit I’m also a big fan of the dessert cabinet, so save some room!
Ambience:
A very relaxed, chilled out affair – locals tap away on their laptops, making the most of the island’s best WiFi with a view while families take a break from their day on the beach below. I love it in winter – it’s so peaceful and beautiful, and big outdoor heaters plus fluffy blankets on the outdoor loungers make it cosy too.
Service:
The ZenSea team is like a big happy family, and nothing is ever too much trouble at any time of the day or night, at any time of the year.
Location:
Cala Nova is one of my favourite Ibiza beaches, because it’s so different to all the others with its waves, rocky cliffs and reddish sands and it’s never too crowded either. ZenSea is elevated just above the beach, with sunbeds below so you have the most picture perfect views and parking just outside.
Price advice:
Considering its stunning seafront location, I think ZenSea is a bargain! Breakfast is around 7 euros while main meals range between 10-20 euros.
Tables to book:
The comfy lounge area outside is a great place to chill out in summer and ZenSea is also available to be booked for private functions and weddings.
