Best for Trendiness - Expert review of Shore
Chef Jason Black is well known on Hong Kong's gourmet scene, and he inspires the kitchen with some surprising and mega tasty dishes. Add in a 900 sqm venue, which by local standards is palatial, a swish design, and you've got the recipe for a very exciting lunch or dinner.
This is steak and seafood country, so expect to be well provisioned. Shore cuts and dry-ages its steaks in-house, with predictably delicious results. The cocktail list verges on the pugnacious.
If Shore tends more to a nightclub than fine dining restaurant come evening, that's no bad thing. The tables are well spaced.
There's a lot of competition to get the staff's attention - rare is the occasion when Shore is not full - but they cope very decorously.
It's pretty much in the middle of town, with a bar and restaurant on separate floors, and there's an extensive outside terrace.
There is no mandatory 10 per cent service charge - hooray! Dinner for two without drinks will be about HK$1,000.
