Tasty fish on one of Tenerife's most picturesque plazas.
I never miss an opportunity if I'm in Garachico to grab a table on the terrace of Aristides, order a plate of chopitos and sit back and watch the world go by - bliss.
Food and drink:
It's traditional Canarian cuisine with fresh fish and grilled meats a speciality.
Recommended dishes:
I love their chopitos - tiny deep fried squid which are like whitebait. The lapas (limpets) and the mussels are also very good. Meat eaters should try their goat which is tender and flavoursome.
Ambience:
It's informal and unhurried. A favourite with visitors and locals but less so with day trippers who tend to stick to the restaurants on the promenade.
Service:
The service can be slow. Not the place to come if you're in a hurry.
Location:
It's in Garachico's picturesque centre, opposite Plaza de La Libertad and alongside the 17th-century mansions of the Counts of La Gomera.
