Expert review of EastWest beach club restaurant
With its golden sand, four-poster beds with flowing chiffon drapes, and amazing views of the Old Town walls across the water, this trendy beach club is one of Dubrovnik’s see-and-be-seen venues both during the day and night through summer. They also do great cocktails, so you can have a drink first then move on to dinner on the minimalist white restaurant terrace.
The dinner menu features innovative Mediterranean dishes prepared with fresh local produce, so you can expect goodies such as fried octopus with lime mayonnaise, sea bass fillet with freshly-made salsa verde, and pork fillet with mashed potatoes and truffles. They also do a wicked panna cotta. Lunch is more simple – homemade beef burgers, club sandwiches and fajita wraps, which you can eat on the beach.
The menu changes a bit each year so I’ve yet to see the full choice for summer 2011.
It's all very chi-chi, from the décor to the clientele. Summer 2010 saw the interior spaces painted minimalist white, with splashes of mauve and lilac added by the curtains and cushions. In any case, you can be sure of fantastic sea views and a smattering of celebrities - American actress Tara Reid and English footballer Rio Ferdinand have both been spotted here.
The staff are polite and efficient.
Overlooking the small sandy Banje beach just a five-minute walk from Ploče Gate, it's on the road south of the Old Town, leading towards Villa Dubrovnik
Lunchtime snacks start from 50 kuna. Expect to pay around 700 kuna for a two-course dinner for two people, with wine.
Ask for a front table overlooking the sea.
