Expert review of Peploe's

Dublin wine bar Peploe's has that special something that keeps the crowds coming back.

I have to be honest, the food at Peploe's didn't wow me, but I keep going back. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but the wine is better, and the atmosphere - well, it's electric, especially at weekends. Peploe's is a well oiled machine. That's why.

Food and drink:

It's French with a few Italian dishes. The menu is varied, with lots of seafood. The choice of wine is stunning.

Recommended dishes:

Steak for the carnivores. Seafood for the fish eaters.

Ambience:

Super! Get your weekend started here with a party vibe. It's equally good for groups or couples.

Service:

Good (usually). This place is usually buzzing and the service can flounder at busy times as a result. Even so, the ambience will keep you distracted from any wait.

Location:

It's around the corner from Grafton Street, opposite Stephen's Green.

Price advice:

During 5.30-6.30pm there is a pre-theatre menu with three courses for 25 euros.

Tables to book:

Tables close to the wine bar are the liveliest. But tables by the back wall give a little more privacy.
