Expert review of Dax Cafe Bar

Dax Cafe Bar is a classy and affordable newcomer off Dublin's 'Golden Mile'.

A newbie in the Merrion Square area, Dax Cafe Bar is a cheaper option to the popular Dax restaurant downstairs. I was pleasantly surprised by its low prices, warm cafe atmosphere and friendly service.  Safely tucked away in a beautiful Georgian townhouse, it's a refreshing option in this upmarket (and pricy) corner of Dublin.

Food and drink:

There is an extensive breakfast menu, superb tapas and cheese boards, on top of a fantastic selection of wine and beer.

Recommended dishes:

Try the tapas for the best value.

Ambience:

It's warm and classy, enticing you to stay for just one extra drink after lunch....naughty!

Service:

The service is French bistro-style, super friendly and informal.

Location:

It's off Merrion Row, on Pembroke Street.

Price advice:

Lunch for approximately 10 euros is fantastic value in this setting.

Tables to book:

Tables furthest from the bar, by the window, are the cosiest.

Other useful branches:

Dax French restaurant is situated downstairs offering equally good food in more formal surroundings.
