Best for Romance - Expert review of Pai Thai
Despite being some distance from South East Asia, Dubai seems to be home to a host of Thai restaurants, many of them excellent. At the very top of the pile sits Pai Thai, nestled amid the calming (albeit fake) waterways of the luxury Al Qasr hotel in the sprawling beachside Madinat Jumeirah complex.
It's purely Thai here, and all of a five-star quality.
It's difficult to veer away from classics such as the Green Curry, especially when they taste this good.
Relaxed and luxurious. You can choose to get there on one of the gondolas, which is always a nice way to kick things off. It's popular with both tourists and expats alike. There's occasional live music, plus a traditional Thai dancer, but even if you're not into that sort of thing it's never intrusive.
Excellent throughout. The restaurant is in one of Dubai's best hotels and the service matches.
Pai Thai is by one of the waterways in the Al Qasr hotel, part of the popular Madinat Jumeirah complex which sits by the coastline and is just five minutes drive from the Mall of the Emirates.
A visit to the best Thai in town doesn't come cheap. Expect a meal for two to cost in the region of 350-500 dirhams.
Booking is recommended, especially during the peak seasons. If it's not sweltering, you'll definitely want to get one of the tables outside by the waterway.
