Expert review of Formel B

Smart, unstuffy, decent-value Michelin-star dining, out in Copenhagen's suburbs.

Formel B offers some of the best classical cooking in the city with less of the starch and formality of some other high-end places. It also offers pretty good value for money - if you're prepared to accept its six-course set menu, which changes every month.

Food and drink:

Expect very classical French food, executed with flair and precision and created with a lot of top-notch local produce. You can also opt for well matched wines with each course too.

Recommended dishes:

Sample dishes might include glazed rack of rabbit with foie gras, veal sweetbreads with cauliflower or turbot with fava beans and bisque.

Ambience:

I really like the rather stark, unpainted render of the walls. It goes well with the marble surrounds and the muted pallette of greys and light browns. It feels clean and modern without actually being cold.

Service:

As you'd expect with a place sporting a Michelin star the front of house standards are as high as the kitchen's.

Location:

Stuck out in leafy, posh Fredericksberg, you'll need to take a taxi if you're coming from the city centre.

Price advice:

Each course costs 120 krone.
