I've been coming to this restaurant for a long time now. For family birthdays and excursions to Kalk Bay years ago, and later, when I moved to this pretty little fishing village, it became a special supper go-to and it remains a special occasion bet. The views are incredible, the East African island interiors enough to coax you into a holiday frame of mind and the menu is peppered with seafood favourites.
Food and drink:
The mostly seafood menu has had a shake up of late. Meaty grills and mouth-watering salads also feature. The wine list is on the small side but has plenty of seafood-friendly choices.
Recommended dishes:
The paprika calamari remains a favourite but new choices like the bouillabaisse and ceviche salad are worth a try. I always have the tempura prawn tian - it's fantastic and the oysters are excellent too. Hungry? Go for broke with the seafood platter.
Ambience:
A happy buzz permeates this restaurant - come during summer or at the weekend and it's heaving.
Service:
For the most part it's efficient, but it can be shaky when it's busy.
