Expert review of Goa

This chilled-out restaurant offers a varied range of food and an Indian-themed design.

Goa is a romantic, low-lit restaurant, which draws on India for the inspiration behind its decor. The menu is rather more eclectic - while it contains a few Asian flavours, it also makes room for dishes from other areas of the world.

Food and drink:

Some people describe Goa as serving fusion food, but a more accurate description would be a restaurant that offers different types of cuisine on the same menu. As such, you can choose from a tapas plate, a goulash soup, an Argentinian steak and a Pad Thai.

Ambience:

It's relaxed and softly lit, with low-hanging glass lamps, potted ferns and intricate stone carvings on the walls.

Service:

Good.

Location:

On Andrássy út, not far from the Budapest Opera House and St Stephen's Basilica.

Price advice:

Goa falls just above the mid-range in price terms. Starters are 1,800 forints or so on average and the main courses are a little over 3,000 forints. During the day (noon-6pm), there’s a good value set menu for 1,800-2,500 forints.
