Expert review of Tadschikische Teestube
The tongue-tripping Tadschikische Teestube is not your typical tearoom. Where else can you can participate in a Russian tea ceremony while being regaled by a German storyteller? It's kitsch yes, but it's also a great experience.
Tadschikische Teestube offers classic tea ceremonies - including samovar - of more than 25 varieties of tea, which can be accompanied by sweets, vodka and Russian-style snack dishes like pierogies and pelmeni.
The tearoom dates back to the DDR era and was first displayed in the Soviet Pavilion of 1974’s Leipzig Fair. Here you can enjoy tea in an almost fairy tale environment – there is even a storyteller who reads tales (in German) on Monday evenings in the winter. You sit (barefoot) on cushions around low tables set on Oriental carpets around sandalwood pillars. The experience is especially cozy during winter months.
Close to Unter den Linden, in Mitte.
The Russian tea ceremony costs around 8 euros.
