Best for Dining alone - Expert review of Si An
One of Prenzlauer Berg's most popular Vietnamese restaurants has a small but considered menu and an authentic Vietnamese vibe.
The traditional Vietnamese food served here is prepared according to time-honoured, largely monastery-originated procedures. Recipes are made using the freshest herbs. The small menu focuses mainly on vegetarian meals, but meat dishes can be prepared upon request.
The papaya salad and soups are especially recommended as are the delicious desserts.
Stylish and pleasant décor with an open kitchen and outdoor seating in summer months. Traditional Asian elements decorate the dining room, such as paper cranes, straw mats, cushions and bamboo. The porcelain, which is made in Vietnam, is available to purchase. There is also a tearoom next door serving sweets and various blends of tea.
Friendly but they don’t like you to linger: expect to have the bill presented soon after you finish eating. The servers are dressed in Vietnamese-made clothes.
Prenzlauer Berg, close to Kollwitzplatz and the Wasserturm area.
A starter and main course will cost between 12-15 euros, without drinks.
