Expert review of Margaux
For my money, Margaux is one of the nicest places to eat in Berlin. It's an elegant restaurant with a wonderful menu that stretches from re-worked French classics to excellent vegetarian dishes, and the wine list is particularly good too.
Michelin-starred chef Michael Hoffmann creates inventive gourmet cuisine, mostly modern twists on French classics. His dishes include such things as stewed shoulder of venison seasoned with coriander, anise and saffron, and lobster with black Perigode truffles. All dishes are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and immaculately presented. The wine list includes around 30 Château Margaux vintages, for which the restaurant is named.
The showy, modern interior is spacious and features back-lit honey-hued onyx walls and black marble floors.
Multilingual and extremely professional.
Margaux is situated on Unter den Linden, just a few steps from the Brandenburger Tor (Gate).
It's 80 euros for the four-course menu (complementing wines 55 euros), 100 euros for the five-course menu (complementing wines 70 euros), 120 euros for the six-course menu (complementing wines 80 euros) and 140 euros for the seven-course menu (complementing wines 90 euros).
