Expert review of Kuchi

A splash of Asia on trendy Gipsstraße.

Sushi fanatics will dig Kuchi, a small but well-known pan-Asian eaterie in Mitte.

Food and drink:

Ostensibly a Japanese sushi restaurant, Kuchi's menu extends to a variety of Asian cuisine, including Thai, Chinese and Korean. The expertly prepared and tasty sushi stands out though, as does the yakitori, spring rolls with chicken, poppy seeds and mandarin. If you like Ramen, check out the tiny but excellent Cocolo Ramenbar next door.

Recommended dishes:

Check out the “My Best Friend’s Roll", an inside-out wrap with salmon and vegetable tempura.

Ambience:

Almost always packed, Kuchi has a buzzy, downtown vibe.

Service:

Very friendly and highly knowledgeable.

Location:

Located on the fashionable Gipsstraße, in Mitte, close to many boutiques, bars and galleries.

Price advice:

The lunch menu ranges from 6-12.50 euros for various sushi and maki dishes. Noodle soups start at 7.50 euros and wok-fried dishes go up to 16.50 euros.

Other useful branches:

There is another branch on Kantstraße 30, in Charlottenburg.
