Expert review of The Barn
The Barn is a relatively new cafe/deli spot in Mitte that has already garnered heaps of praise for its dedication to fresh, homemade produce, lunchtime delivery service (Mitte area only) and excellent coffee.
The cafe serves homemade sandwiches, quiches, wraps, cakes and more, all sourced wherever possible from local companies in and around the Berlin area. The coffee is among the best in Berlin, and the lovely wooden shelves that surround the interior are well stocked with local products for sale (jams, honey, apple juice) as well as pasta and more from small producers in France and Italy. There are also daily specials, so check the blackboard.
It's a small place, but cosy and natural feeling with lots of wood and a chic/rustic vibe. In the summer, street seating is available and the large windows are perfect for a spot of people watching.
Very friendly and personal. The staff are international.
The cafe is on Auguststraße, otherwise known as Berlin's art mile, and is close to many art galleries, museums and shops.
Coffees are around 2-3 euros, and sandwiches around 5-7 euros.
