Expert review of Barcomi’s
It seems that not many people make a trip to Berlin without visiting Barcomi's - a pretty slice of New York in the middle of Berlin, in the shape of NY-style bagels, home made cheesecakes (and more) and an Italian style deli out back.
American expat owner and celebrity baker Cynthia Barcomi brought a New York-style deli and café culture to Berlin over a decade ago. Barcomi’s serves 13 different types of coffee and roasts its own beans, which you can buy and take home. Deli-style sandwiches and bagels are accompanied by a good range of muffins, cookies and excellent New York cheesecake.
The NY cheesecake is amazing and the breakfast platters are very generous and tasty.
A relaxed atmosphere and coffee-perfumed air makes it a good place to linger and mix with a blend of trendy Mitte locals and tourists.
Friendly.
Barcomi’s is located in a renovated, ivy-covered courtyard in Mitte, downstairs from Sammlung Hoffman.
A generous breakfast platter will set you back between 7-9 euros p/p.
The original branch is in Kreuzberg on Bergmannnstraße, but the Mitte branch remains the most popular.
