Expert review of Mosto
Casual, affordable fine-dining (two or three courses with wine that’s an appealing option any night of the week) seems beyond most Beijing restaurants, which battle for either the budget or luxury renminbi. Hence Mosto caused such a stir when it arrived on the scene in 2008, and continues to pack out for its dependable cuisine in an urbane, contemporary environment.
The enticingly compact menu has about half a dozen choices for each course, though I generally stick with the grilled beef tenderloin or the risotto. The chocolate soufflé with chili ice-cream is a must-try.
Romantic and elegant, relaxed and unstuffy.
Very good, especially regarding wine knowledge and selection.
On the third floor of Nali Patio, a Hacienda-style dining and shopping complex in the heart of Sanlitun.
The express lunch menu is particularly good value, with two courses at 80 RMB. Dinner for two with wine should set you back about 600 RMB.
