Expert review of Lime Lounge
For some reason I thought that the Lime Lounge was a Mexican restaurant, so when I turned up I was expecting burritos and fajitas. There were no tortillas, but I did manage to get a very nice pomegranate mojito and a cracking meal.
Menu wise it’s a bit of a mish-mash. At lunchtime there are soups and snacks and at dinnertime the seasonal menu is reinforced by daily specials. Summer sees lighter meals making an appearance and in wintertime duck, fish, lamb and beef steaks feature heavily - all the food is quite simple, no-fuss dishes, but very tasty and filling.
Pan fried red mullet with Thai red curry sauce is a nice, if a little unusual, combination. Posh eggy bread and a Bloody Mary is a life-saver at weekend brunch.
Splashes of lime give the restaurant a fresh and lively atmosphere. There are outside tables for warmer weather.
Friendly and considerate. When we braved the outside tables in summertime, our waiter kindly reserved us a table inside for when the inevitable happened and we had to retreat to the heat.
Down Margaret Buildings, a lovely little passageway between the Circus and Royal Crescent, just off Brock Street.
Between 11am-5pm soup and a sandwich costs £7. From 5pm Sun-Thurs there is a two for one offer on all main meals.
