Italian ice cream on a sunny Gràcia square.

Ask a local for the best gelat in town and they will invariably point you in the direction of this friendly little place, run by two generations of an Italian ice-cream making family.

Food and drink: 

The queues are testament to the quality of the ice cream, and all 25 flavours are good, from strawberry to tiramisu, but the real favourite is the chocolate – dark, rich and with a decadently high cocoa content.

Ambience: 

Inside it’s an ice-cream shop like any other, but it also has tables outside on the Plaça Revolució de Setembre de 1868 (ask for the Plaça Revolució and everyone will know where you mean).

Service: 

Super friendly, even when the place is rammed.

Location: 

The square is in the centre of this quiet, residential neighbourhood, just above the Travessera de Gràcia.

Price advice: 

3 euros for a little tub.
