Expert review of Buenas Migas
Buenas Migas started life in the Raval and has since expanded to eight branches, all serving healthy, well-sourced food. It’s all very wholesome, but I do sometimes feel that they could live a little and add a tad more salt to the savoury food, and make the cakes a wee bit richer, without inducing heart attacks in the customers.
The speciality is topped focaccia, in many varieties, but you’ll also find basic breakfasts, salads, pasta dishes, and cakes.
Straight out of a 1970's copy of Good Housekeeping, with scrubbed pine tables and Kilner jars and a fairly earnest feel.
Service varies a lot depending on the branch and the day, but is generally efficient.
The most useful branches are near the MACBA, the cathedral and the beach.
For a full lunch, you’ll probably spend about 15 euros a head.
There are also branches at Baixada de Santa Clara 2 (near the cathedral) and Plaça del Mar in Barceloneta.
