Flying to Dalmatian Coast

The Dalmatian Coast is served by two main airports, Dubrovnik and Split. Both cities receive regular flights from the UK and most European capitals. There are no direct flights to Croatia from the US.

Dubrovnik Airport

Dubrovnik Airport (020 773100; www.airport-dubrovnik.hr) lies 21km southeast of Dubrovnik city centre. British Airways fly to Dubrovnik from London Gatwick; Croatian Airlines fly to Dubrovnik from London Gatwick; EasyJet fly to Dubrovnik from Liverpool, London Gatwick and London Stansted; Flybe fly to Dubrovnik from Birmingham; andJet2.com fly to Dubrovnik from Belfast, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester.

Getting to the city

An airport bus, run by Atlas (020 442222; www.atlas-croatia.com) makes regular runs between the airport and Dubrovnik Bus Station, dropping passengers at Pile Gate (just outside the Old Town) on the way. Tickets cost 35 kuna. Taxis are also readily available and there are several car hire firms based at the airport.

Split Airport

Split Airport (021 203555; www.split-airport.hr) lies near Kaštela, 25km west of Split city centre. Croatian Airlines fly to Split from London Gatwick; EasyJet fly to Split from Bristol, London Gatwick or London Stansted; and Jet2.com fly to Split from Manchester.

Getting to the city

An airport bus, run by Pleso (021 203119, www.plesoprijevoz.hr) makes regular runs between the airport and Split’s Riva (seafront promenade). Tickets cost 30 kuna. Getting to the islands

Brač: Fly into Split, take the airport bus to the centre of Split, then catch a local Jadrolinija ferry to Supetar (several daily) or the catamaran to Bol (one daily, 16:00).

Hvar: Fly into Split, take the airport bus to the centre of Split, then catch a local Jadrolinija ferry to Stari Grad (several daily) or the catamaran to Hvar Town (one daily, 11.30).

Korčula: Fly into Split, take the airport bus to the centre of Split, then catch the Krilo Jet catamaran to Korčula Town (one daily, 16:00) or the Jadrolinija catamaran to Vela Luka (one daily, 15:00). Alternatively, fly into Dubrovnik, hire a car and drive to Korčula.
