You don’t have to belong to any professional body, have any journalistic qualifications or even be previously published to write for Simonseeks - but you do need to be able to write guides that people want to read, that give the inside knowledge on a place, that really inspire. So no, you don’t have to be a professional travel writer, but we are after a high standard of quality writing – not just a two-line hotel review!

It’s hard to be specific about this, as there are lots of variables. Your revenue share comes from people clicking on the links on your page but the amount of revenue generated varies depending, for example, on the standard of accommodation booked and the length of stay. So someone booking a luxury hotel for a two-week holiday will obviously earn more for you than another person booking a B&B for just one night. What we can say, though, is that the more informative, interesting and easy to read your article, the more income it’s likely to generate. It’s also more likely to attract readers if it looks appealing – so if you haven’t already added photos to your story, it’s a good idea to do so!

Monetised links are essentially links on your article page from which you can make money. If you add links within the body of your article we can’t readily identify them. If, however, you follow the instructions on the Write Article page and add your hotels in the special Hotel Recommendation box then we can easily identify these links and monetise them. Then, whenever anyone makes a booking through that link, you make money.
