Canoe Adventures operate next to the friendly Maltsters Arms at Tuckenhay on Bow Creek on the west bank of the beautiful River Dart halfway between Dartmouth and Totnes in South Devon. The canoes are Voyager 12-seat canoes each with full equipment and its own steersman-guide.
Twice a month the moon and tide coincide for Canoeing By Moonlight, and the Voyager canoes with guest-crews and steersmen take to the river under the light of the moon to paddle to an evening meal at a riverside pub, and on the return journey land again for a bright romantic campfire to brew and share hot chocolate before continuing.
All the Voyager canoe outings are 4-5 hours and each trip is timed to the flow of the tide, using it to help power the canoes out and return, always stopping for a riverside picnic or a bbq on a campfire lit with flint and steel (great for children!). There's also an ice cream stop.
I would love to know what you think about the blogs and sites I’ve mentioned in this post, so leave your comments below!
