Read full expert reviewIn terms of ‘hip’ design and style, Lisbon is a good few years behind the rest of Western Europe. However, the flipside is that there is a charming cluster of period hotels to choose from. If you’re on a budget, Lisbon is one of the best cities in the world to grab a bargain. I've been writing about Lisbon for five years now and have reviewed somewhere in the region of 50-odd hotels, which gives me a pretty comprehensive knowledge of where to stay and where to avoid. For this to be a complete guide, I have endeavoured to include a very wide range of hotels, from the opulent grande dames to the budget and functional. In order to gain inclusion in this guide, the hotels have displayed that they are amongst the best within their certain category, ensuring that while the guide displays a broad picture of the Lisbon hotel scene, it also shows the best the city has to offer.
