While I was living in Split, I visited Hvar many times, occasionally for work, but more often for pleasure. I've stayed in several of Hvar’s top hotels, but also taken refuge from a thunderstorm (abandoning boat) on the tiny Pakleni islands, and hiked along much of Hvar’s south coast. I’ve written about the island for various guidebooks, newspapers and websites, and I’m continually keeping track of renovation projects and new hotel openings that could enrich a visitor’s experience. Out of the seven Hvar hotels listed here, I’ve tried to include a good cross-section to appeal to various types of visitors – party animals, eco-tourists and families with kids – and a range of price brackets.
* Simonseeks has given star ratings out of five for all accommodation
recommendations. With hotels, these will tally with the hotel's official star rating where
it exists. Where a hotel has no official star rating, and in the case of b & bs and hostels,
the experts have made a judgment as to how many stars the accommodation deserves, in terms
of comfort, level of facilities and so forth.
